Graystone Engineering is located approximately thirty miles south of
Birmingham in Montevallo, Alabama. Our location in central Alabama is one of
the USA’s leading industrial areas and has a large number of engineers and
designers with extensive knowledge of plant design and operations.
Graystone was born in this dynamic industrial area, and as a result,
employs engineers and designers who have helped build the plants and
factories that have made this area of Alabama a leading producer of
industrial goods and services.
Ron Hicks, P.E.,
President
Ron is the founder and president of Graystone Engineering. He is a mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Mississippi. Ron is a registered Professional Engineer in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Ron is currently working on additional registrations in Arizona, New Mexico, and New York.
Ron is affiliated with the following organizations: National Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Institute of Steel Construction, Structural Engineers Association International.
Ron has been involved with mechanical, structural, and plant engineering for 36 years. He has worked as a field construction engineer for a cement manufacturer, maintenance superintendent for a cement manufacturer, director of corporate engineering for a lime manufacturer, and consultant. Ron is responsible for the strategic planning, business development and growth of Graystone as well as providing valuable engineering design experience to the wide variety of projects the company handles.
George Hicks, Senior
Engineer
George was involved with starting Graystone and has been working for the company since its beginning. He is a mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Alabama and has 14 years of experience in mechanical, structural, and plant engineering.
George is responsible for the structural and finite element analysis of structures and machines using software such as AutoCAD, MathCAD, Ram Elements, SolidWorks Premium, and SolidWorks Simulation. He has extensive design experience on a wide range of projects from the analysis of complex machinery parts to concrete kiln piers. George is also involved in IT and project management as well as project engineering.
